Following discussions with Highlees Primary School in Ravensthorpe, Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson contacted Lord Nash, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools at the Department of Education to ask that they reconsider the school’s sponsorship as a free school by the Elliot Foundation.

Following Mr Jackson’s intervention Lord Nash and the Department of Education has decided to allow the school to proceed with the Elliot Foundation as sponsor.

Stewart Jackson said:

“I am delighted that I was able to push the Department to reconsider and assist Highlees Primary School and the Governing Body in their quest to become a free school.

I think it is important that the Government are listening to and following wishes of parents, staff and governors.

With Highlees becoming a free school with the support of the Elliot Foundation I have high hopes for the future of the school and improvement in their results.”
