New figures have shown that in Peterborough mixed sex wards have been eradicated.

Since November 2010 the Government has been naming, shaming and fining hospitals if patients are placed in mixed-sex accommodation

Three years ago in Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust the number of people placed in mixed sex accommodation was seven, but today it has fallen to zero.  Across the country the incidents of patients being placed in mixed sex accommodation has fallen by 97 per cent.

Commenting, Stewart Jackson, MP for Peterborough said:

‘It is fantastic news that mixed sex wards in Peterborough have been eradicated, along with our new hospital.  When people are ill and feeling vulnerable the last thing they need is to feel like their privacy is being invaded and the Prime Minister’s action to stop that happening is very much appreciated.  My constituents should be reassured that these changes are happening across the country to improve the care of patients.’
