Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson will this evening present a petition to the House of Commons on behalf of residents from Werrington and Peakirk.
Residents of North Werrington and Peakirk are concerned following the upgrade of the nearby freight line and the estimated increase in freight traffic by up to 23,360 additional trains per year.
Mr Jackson’s constituents are concerned about noise, vibration and pollution caused by the increased traffic and also the possible devaluation of their properties.
Stewart Jackson said:
“I have met with a number of constituents who are concerned that Network Rail are not doing enough to mitigate the problems caused by increased traffic on the freight line.
I have been corresponding with Network Rail on their behalf and I am happy to be able to present a petition on their behalf and do hope our Government is able to provide a formal response.”
