Homeowners are getting in gear for a healthier lifestyle when they move into the pioneering Connect21 development at Potters Way in Peterborough.

As part of its Go Green initiative, Kier Homes is helping new residents cut their carbon footprint and boost their fitness by giving each new house buyer, and all family members, a free bike along with the keys to their new property.

On a recent visit to the development, Stewart Jackson MP for Peterborough took to the saddle of a Go Green bicycle on a mini tour of the development joined by Nick Moore, deputy managing director of Kier Homes and site manager, Max Perrin.

Mr Jackson said:

“Go Green is a great idea because here at Connect 21 you don’t need to rely on a car. For those working in Peterborough it’s just a five minute cycle ride to the city centre and for London commuters it’s just a ten minute cycle ride to the station where, thanks to Network Rail, we now have 150 safe, secure bicycle parking spaces.”

To encourage cyclists to enjoy local routes into the city and to explore the local countryside, Kier Homes has produced a free guide to safe cycling in and around Connect 21 and has installed route information boards around the site which is surrounded by open spaces and cycle routes.

Nick Moore, deputy managing director of Kier Homes said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Mr Jackson to Connect 21 to see for himself how our Go Green initiative is making it easy for local people and families to enjoy healthier lifestyles. With Connect21 so well located close to the city centre and to the natural landscapes of the River Nene, exploring the area by bicycle makes perfect sense.”

Connect 21, in Potters Way, comprises a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and apartments within easy walking distance of Peterborough city centre and less than a mile from Peterborough train station. It has been designed along sustainable lines, using eco-friendly materials and transforms a redundant site into stylish contemporary homes in a beautifully-landscaped setting with easy access to open spaces and specially-created wildlife habitats in and around the development.

Nick Moore added:

“Connect 21 is a great location and prices here are very competitive. We can also offer the Government’s Help to Buy scheme on houses and apartments.”

Prices for 2-bedroom houses start at £135,995. Interested buyers can view the new showhomes by calling the Connect21 sales team on 01733 896165 or visit www.kierhomes.co.uk
